Is it better to take guitar lessons or teach yourself on youtube?

A DIY attitude is the foundation of getting things done, but as with any serious project, it takes a team. If you cant work well with others (especially those trying to give you feedback) then forget playing in a band or with anyone for that matter. Having a teacher guide you in an objective way can help overcome blind spots in your playing and help you to grow. We as humans are naturally pack animals, and therefore depend on each others knowledge and experience; Especially from those we consider elders. We encourage all of our students to channel the power of a “DIY” mentality into goal oriented accountability. Such accountability isn’t really possible without the wisdom of a veteran musician. Youtube is a great resource of information that we often use in our lessons, but without proper guidance and accountability to interpret whats is being show, loan wolf students often experience frustration resulting in burn out. Our job is to help you achieve your goals. Our music school, located in San Clemente, CA, down the street from San Juan Capistrano & Dana Point; has been outfitted to guide students through learning, writing, recording and video production. It is located in the studio of section of San Clemente’s local Record Store / Recording Studio (Power Plant Records) which makes it an ideal location to experience the inter-workings of music industry, distribution and production. As an artist in the new decade of 2020, it’s important to acquire skills that compliment your primary instrument if you are serious about doing your best work.
